JANNA Hynds
Janna Hynds was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ and although she grew up in a landlocked state, she found a love and passion for ocean conservation. During her time as an undergraduate at Arizona State University (ASU) she pursued every marine-related class, lab, and opportunity she could. She is now a master’s student pursuing coral reef research here in Arizona and in partnership with Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS).
She feels lucky to have the opportunity to pursue something she is passionate about and after the completion of her degree, she plans to continue working towards ocean conservation in any avenue that presents itself. Aside from her fieldwork and education, Janna is a yoga instructor who loves to practice, try new restaurants and shops with her friends, cooking, and taking care of her plants!
Janna is joining some of our members as one of five panelists at Piece of the Pi’s sponsored Panel Professionals event at Arizona Science Center; she will represent the marine biology field for the event’s expected 50-100 teen participants.
CHANTAL NAVRATIL
Chantal Navratil graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Arizona State University (ASU) and is a certified professional makeup artist. She received her master’s degree in cosmetic science in 2023. She founded Chem Baddie Cosmetics to provide mind-blowing beauty and skincare products with sustainable, top-tier ingredients and packaging. Designed for “the baddie on a budget,” her brand delivers time and time again thanks to her chemical engineering and beauty industry savvy.
In college, Chantal knew her degree would provide the opportunity to combine her childhood loves of math and science with her profession as a makeup artist. She dove into the chemistry behind her favorite beauty lines, discovering how to improve their chemical makeup and price point for even better results. Uncovering the lack of sustainability in the cosmetics industry through a variety of internships inspired her to start her own, revolutionary brand.
Chantal is also joining some of our members as one of five panelists at Piece of the Pi’s sponsored Panel Professionals event at Arizona Science Center; she will represent the chemical engineering field for the event’s expected 50-100 teen participants.
